Introduction of Coins
1947-D dimes were saved by the roll and are thus common in Mint State. Though fairly large numbers are recorded through MS 67, 1947-D is not as common in high grades as several adjacent issues. The generally superior strikes of Denver Mint dimes over those of the other mints aids in locating FT coins, but the overuse of dies at all three mints during the 1940s-50s took its toll. Doubled-dies are rare for 1947-D dimes and were fairly recent discoveries.Read More
