Introduction of Coins
The American economy was in full swing during 1959, and the Denver Mint again topped its own record for dime production that year. 1959(P) dimes were hoarded by the BU roll and even by the bag, though many of these coins were presumably destroyed during the big silver run-up of 1979-80. At that time their collector value was not sufficient to save them. Common through MS 67, the high percentage of FT examples may represent the effects of bulk grading, in which only those coins meeting a specified minimum actually get holdered and appear in the Census. While only a few RPM varieties have surfaced, two of these are quite desirable, one having the first D punched upside down.Read More
