Introduction of Coins

After the abortive mintage of dimes in early 1931 the Denver Mint didn't resume production until the spring of 1934. A mere 673,000 1934-D dimes had been struck by June 30, the balance of this year's mintage coming in subsequent months. 1934-D dimes frequently display weakness at their centers, and examples having Full Bands, while not truly rare, are distinctly in the minority. This issue is found with either the Small D mintmark leftover from dies shipped to Denver in earlier years or with the new Large D which debuted on the cents of 1933. Two repunched mintmark varieties are noted for this date. These are both of the Large D style.Read More
