Sales of all USA proof coins rose in 1900, as both collectors and the general public sought souvenirs of this significant date. Those sold to non-numismatists, however, suffered from mishandling and may even have been spent sometime later. 1900 proof dimes are slightly scarce, certainly more so than their mintage suggests.
