After taking a slight upturn in 1905, proof sales plunged again for 1906 and continued to slide thereafter through 1915, with but a few exceptions. As it had since 1902, the Philadelphia Mint made no effort to impart deeply frosted devices to its proof coins for 1906. While a number of dimes have been certified as Cameo proofs, they are so only in relation to most of this date and do not show the degree of contrast seen on 19th Century proofs.Read More
