Proof sales slid even further during 1908 from the previous year. Numismatic publications periodically carried grousing from collectors about the old fashioned and ponderous designs of the nation's coinage, and the only buyers of proofs were those persons maintaining complete date series. While fully struck, most 1908 proof dimes reveal little or no cameo contrast, as made.
