Introduction of Coins
The modest mintage of 1909-S dimes resulted in a coin which is elusive in all but the lowest grades and highly sought by series collectors. Unlike typical S-Mint dimes of the period, this issue is sometimes found a weakly struck. The coin illustrated is thus exceptional in this respect. No varieties are known for 1909-S dimes, the repunched date reported by Walter Breen in his 1988 encyclopedia evidently being an example of strike doubling.Read More
