The sales figure for 1913 proof dimes, though down from 1912, was still rather high for the period. It's very likely that persons intrigued by the new Indian Head/Buffalo Nickel simply purchased complete proof sets (excluding gold pieces), and this boosted the number of silver proofs from expected levels.
