Introduction of Coins

Despite its low mintage, the 1914-S dime is not rare. It's likely that a roll or two was saved at the time, as this practice became more common among collectors/speculators after the turn of the century. Mint State survivors are scarce only at the gem level (MS 65 and higher), and most MS coins are well struck and display excellent luster that may be semi-prooflike. Worn examples are known across many grades. When the first coin collecting boards appeared in 1935, there were still many post-1900 Barber Dimes circulating, and these were thus preserved for posterity in far greater numbers than earlier issues.Read More
