Introduction of Coins
This very low mintage issue is the undisputed key to the Seated Liberty Dime series. Though a few others had even smaller mintages, Carson City dimes saw far more extensive circulation and suffered a higher attrition rate. Most survivors are impaired to one degree or another, but all survivors bring strong prices. Just a single pair of dies was used, the reverse being the same die used for the 1871-73 dimes. It is readily identifiable by a crack connecting the letters of the mintmark.Read More
