ONE DIME
Introduction of Coins
With its large mintage the 1876 CC dime is common in all but the highest grades. This is true, however, only of the many Type 1 Reverse die marriages. Just a single die pairing is known with the Type 2 Reverse, and this is quite scarce across all grades. It shows the "E" in "ONE" distant from the wheat leaf. With nearly three dozen die marriages overall, the 1876 CC dime is a rich field for the variety collector. The most popular variety is the very obvious doubled-die obverse. This blurred and rusted die was paired with no fewer than three reverses. Also found for this issue is a less dramatic doubled-die reverse, as well as a misplaced date variety.Read More
