ONE DIME
Introduction of Coins
This is a common issue that was generated from numerous die pairs. Included within these are several misplaced-dates and repunched dates, though none have emerged as particularly popular with collectors. Most 1888(P) dimes are a bit weakly struck at Liberty's head and base. On the coin illustrated this weakness extends to the date, as well. Gems are not common, but there seem to be enough to supply the needs of advanced series collectors. Prooflike pieces exist but are rare. These likely were coined from recently retired proof dies. This issue includes one Top 100 entry. F-100 features both a repunched final 8 and a misplaced punching of 888 within Liberty's gown.Read More
