Introduction of Coins
After several years of million-plus mintages for dimes at the New Orleans Mint, a mere 290,000 examples were struck there in 1858. This issue is moderately scarce in lower grades, very scarce grading VF or higher and quite rare in Mint State. Those few seen unworn are apt to be less than fully struck, the border denticles being particularly subject to incompleteness. All 1858 O dimes were coined with the Large O mintmark, and there are no collectable varieties.Read More
