Though it had a slightly higher mintage than its Philadelphia Mint counterpart, the 1859 O dime is notably more scarce across all grades. This is generally true of New Orleans Mint dimes, as these circulated extensively in parts of the country far removed from the coin collecting population. Mint State examples are available, but scarce. Both Medium O and Large O reverse dies were used this year, these from two different batches delivered in earlier years.
