Introduction of Coins
This is the first eagle produced at the New Orleans mint. Only 2,500 pieces were struck and there are only an estimated 50-60 known today. Most 1841-O eagles are well worn with Very Fine being the average grade for this issue. The '41-O ten becomes very scarce in properly graded XF and it is quite rare in AU. There are seven or eight pieces known in this grade range with none of these better than AU 55.
