As with 1875, sources vary as to the number of proofs coined this year. The Guide Book says 1,500, Brunner/Frost says 1,260 and Flynn says 1,150---take your pick. The bottom line, however, is that proof 1876 20-cent pieces are scarce in all grades, and gems (PF 65 or higher) are rare.
