Introduction of Coins
While the Carson City Mint pumped out record numbers of gold eagles and half eagles in 1891, only 5,000 double eagles were produced that year. This is the second lowest mintage for any CC double eagle after the 1870. Due to its extremely low mintage, the 1891-CC double eagle is extremely rare in all grades and commands a very large premium. Most examples are seen in the AU range.Read More
