Introduction of Coins
Though of lower mintage than its Denver Mint cousin, the 1936-S quarter is more readily available. With most collectors living in the East during the 1930s, S-Mint coins always were scarce and prized. This led to the hoarding of BU rolls and even worn pieces when found. This issue is plentiful through the grade of MS 66, though quite rare above that level. Most are pleasingly lustrous but may be a bit weakly struck on the high points. A nice repunched mintmark variety may be found on 1936-S quarters, with the earlier impression lying east of the final one.Read More
