Introduction of Coins
In 1884, the Philadelphia Mint struck only 1,950 gold quarter eagles along with 73 proofs. Both issues are understandably rare considering their low mintages. Most mint state coins tend to be in the AU58 to MS62 range. Higher graded examples are extremely rare. On the other hand, the proof issues have an average grade of around PF64 and often come with a cameo finish.Read More
