Introduction of Coins
The coin hobby in the USA entered a slump in the mid 1890s, and this was reflected by declining sales of proofs over the next several years. As a result, proofs of the 1895 nickel are somewhat more scarce than most earlier dates. Their quality, however, is typically higher than for the more common dates.
