Introduction of Coins
As a work of art the new With Drapery subtype of half dime was no improvement. Liberty looks bloated, and this aspect is exacerbated by the tendency of these coins to strike up less fully. Liberty's head and the leaves of the wreath are features often seen incomplete. The relatively low mintage of New Orleans half dimes from the new dies has made this a semi-key issue in completing a set of Seated Liberty Half Dimes. It is quite rare in Mint State, and even circulated pieces in attractive condition are elusive.Read More
