With the exception of the seemingly unique 1870 S specimen, this issue has the lowest mintage in the Seated Liberty Half Dime series. Not surprisingly these coins are quite rare. 1867(P) was at one time thought to be a proof-only issue, as no unworn examples of the currency strikes were known until the 1950s. Since that time Mint State pieces have been found in sufficient numbers to be collectable, but all non-proof examples of this issue remain rare.Read More
