Introduction of Coins
The mintage of quarter dollars at Denver seems to have been unaffected by the ongoing recession, perhaps because the western states were less dependent on industrial production. As is typical for coins of the 1950s and early '60s, 1958-D quarters are more elusive in the higher grades than their eastern cousins. This is mostly a consequence of displaying more contact marks, and it's likely that D-Mint coins had to be shipped farther to their distribution points than those of the Philadelphia Mint.Read More
