Introduction of Coins
After the excitement over the Small Date cents in 1960, an entirely new crop of rookie coin collectors entered the market, pushing 1961 proof set sales to nearly twice those of the year before. It seemed that no one wanted to be left out of the ever-rising speculation in modern coins. The U. S. Mint continued to produce proof coins much nicer than those of just a few years earlier. Gems are plentiful, and these include many examples displaying Cameo or even Ultra Cameo contrast. A nice DDO variety may be found. This features distinct doubling on all obverse lettering and the date.Read More
