Introduction of Coins
The 1852-O quarter dollar is quite scarce across all grades and genuinely rare above Very Fine. Unlike most issues from the years 1850-52, there is no cluster of Mint State coins that somehow survived being melted for their bullion content. The few Mint State examples known are poorly struck, with the higher points of the design not fully formed. A single obverse die was paired with two reverses, but the overall rarity of this issue has left little opportunity for collecting by varieties.Read More
