Addition of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST to the silver and gold coins in 1866 prompted a slight spike in sales for this date. Even so, just a single pair of dies was utilized. The new reverse was slightly lower in overall relief. Proofs of this date are fairly plentiful by 19th Century standards, and they were well made overall.
