Introduction of Coins

Though the mintage of this issue is modest, it has an unusually high survival rate. When the Standing Liberty Quarter series first became popular with collectors in the late 1930s, 1926-D quarters were among the few entries available Uncirculated within dealers' ads. There were clearly roll quantities in existence at that time, and 1926-D remains one of the most plentiful of SLQs at the MS level. Nearly all of these coins, however, are quite poorly struck. In fact, this date/mint is notorious as perhaps the most poorly made entry in the entire series, and certified FH coins are extremely rare. Like with most Denver Mint coins of the 1920s, die cracks are commonly seen.Read More
