Introduction of Coins
Proofs of Charles Barber's new design were highly sought for their novelty, and this date has the highest such mintage in the series. Survivors are common, and gems are not especially scarce. Cameo examples are more scarce, but a fair number have been certified. Ultra Cameo coins, however, are very rare. Both the Type 1 and Type 2 reverses were used for proofs dated 1892. This is not enough difference in rarity to justify a premium, and few collectors have shown an interest in obtaining both varieties.Read More
