Introduction of Coins
No quarter dollars were coined by the San Francisco Mint in 1906, and the demand evidently remained modest this year. This issue, while not truly rare, has proved to be a challenging one for collectors seeking examples grading Fine and higher. Mint State coins are scarce, with gems being genuinely rare. Like most S-Mint coins of this decade, 1907-S quarters were well struck. Several repunched date and repunched mintmark varieties are noted for this issue, more than one would expect for its limited mintage. Perhaps, collectors just examine the semi-key more carefully than the common ones.Read More
