Introduction of Coins
This very generous mintage has left the 1908-O quarter dollar quite common across all grades shy of MS 65. These coins tend to be a bit softly struck, and collectors are advised to seek a sharp impression from fresh dies, regardless of the numeric grade assigned. Gems are available in sufficient numbers to meet the demand from advanced collectors. There are several misplaced date varieties, with the tops of one or more numerals appearing within the denticles below the actual date placement. 1908 would be the final year for date-punching varieties, and the Philadelphia Mint's engraving department went out with a bang.Read More
