Introduction of Coins
Any Barber coin having a mintage under a million pieces will attract the attention of collectors, and 1908-S is no exception. This issue is scarce across all grades and very elusive above Fine. Mint State survivors are likewise in short supply, and the high number of certified MS 64 examples seen for this and many other entries probably represents failed attempts at the coveted MS 65 grade. The latter is quite scarce, though perhaps less so than one would expect of the low mintage. There are no varieties reported for 1908-S, other than the three slightly different mintmark placements observed by David Lawrence.Read More
