Introduction of Coins
Typical for the Denver Mint during this period, the 1950-D half dollar is more often seen well struck than its Philadelphia Mint cousin. Both issues, however, have suffered from numerous contact marks, resulting in significant rarity above the grade of MS-65, with or without FBL. The nation finally recovered from post-war inflation and unemployment. This is reflected in the higher mintages during 1950 over the several preceding years. Two fairly minor repunched mintmark varieties are known for 1950-D, one of them being FS-501.Read More
