Introduction of Coins
The 1960-D half dollar enjoyed a generous mintage for the period and thus remains extremely common in both Mint State and circulated condition. Gems, however, are very rare grading higher than MS-65, this being due to the high frequency of contact marks. On the plus side, most examples are sharply struck, and coins displaying full bell lines are rare only at the gem level. Amazingly for an issue that would have required dozens of dies to produce, no varieties have yet surfaced.Read More
