Introduction of Coins
This is another high mintage issue from the prosperous decade of the 1840s. It is readily available across the lower circulated grades, while About Uncirculated and Mint State pieces are not especially rare. Gems, however, are few and far between. Some 15 die marriages are known from combinations of 10 obverse dies and 12 reverses. Several repunched date varieties are known, the most desirable being VP-001 (WB-104) and WB-102. Three collar varieties have been found: 143 reeds, 144 and 145, respectively.Read More
