Introduction of Coins
The 1846-O Tall Date half dollar is a very scarce to rare coin in all grades. Mint State survivors are extremely rare, and prices for this issue reflect keen competition among collectors for this very desirable entry. Only two of the nine obverse dies known for 1846-O half dollars feature the Tall Date. These were used in combination with six different reverses for a total of six Tall Date die marriages. None of these marriages feature any other varieties of interest, so their value lies solely in their distinctive date punch.Read More
