Introduction of Coins
Mint State examples of the 1897-O half dollar are very scarce, with gems being genuinely rare. Most display the weakness typical of the this coin type from the New Orleans Mint, with incomplete areas at Liberty's forehead, the wing adjacent to the right edge of the shield, the arrow feathers and the claw grasping them. There is no grade at which this coin is common, and attractive circulated pieces are in great demand. No varieties have surfaced for this low mintage entry.Read More
