Introduction of Coins
Had this not been the first year of issue a mintage of under a million coins would have resulted in an issue that is scarce in Mint State. As it is, many examples were saved for their novelty, and this issue is plentiful in AU and MS grades through MS-65. For the advanced collector there are a fair number of MS-66 specimens, but the 1892(P) half dollar is quite rare above that level. The typical example is well struck, though it may display signs of die erosion. Many type collections feature this date/mint, as it is so plentiful in well preserved condition. This entry offers a repunched date (RPD) variety, as well as doulbled-dies for both obverse and reverse.Read More
