Introduction of Coins
A large mintage has left us with many thousands of circulated 1916-D cents, and these only become slightly scarce in grades XF and AU. Mint State pieces are plentiful, but these seldom display full red color. This issue runs the gamut from fully struck examples having sharp details (photos) to coins revealing tired, worn dies on which the peripheral elements are drawn toward the edge. Enough of both survive that collectors should avoid the poorly struck pieces.Read More
