Introduction of Coins

As was true of Philadelphia Mint cents of this date, the 1919-D emission was the largest from the Denver Mint to date and would not be exceeded until 1940. Circulated pieces are quite common, and gem Mint State coins are relatively plentiful, as well. Many 1919-D cents were coined with overused dies, this being especially evident on the reverse. Wheat ears beginning to blend with the coin's rim is something that became increasingly common as this decade gave way to the 1920s, and the U. S. Mint's wartime budget was severely cut.Read More
