Introduction of Coins
Beginning with 1937 the Denver Mint provided coinage that was superior on average to that of its east and west cousins. This remained true for decades afterward, with only a brief lapse during the early 1960s. The 1937-D cent survives in large numbers, due to the well established practice among collectors and speculator of saving fresh rolls. This was much easier in an era when banks would readily furnish new coins whenever they had them in stock. Only very minor varieties are known for this issue, none of them attracting much collector interest.Read More
