Introduction of Coins
Gems are fairly plentiful short of the MS 67 RD grade, though most of these will have less than complete features. The San Francisco Mint ran its dies too long, repolishing them as needed to buy more time, with the resultant loss of detail. On the plus side, luster for this issue is quite good, though spotting and staining are a recurring problem. A dozen or more repunched mintmark varieties are known for 1951-S cents, all of them quite minor.Read More
