Introduction of Coins
This is another issue that was widely saved by the roll and is common in so-so Mint State condition. Spotting and staining is something of an issue for 1955-D cents, but poor strikes from worn die also contribute to the rarity of top grade pieces. The problem of die erosion is not as evident on these cents as on their Philadelphia cousins, but small die breaks are common, such as the formerly quite popular BIE breaks within LIBERTY. Several repunched mintmark varieties are known, along with a collectable doubled-die obverse variety.Read More
