Braided Hair Cent

The Braided Hair Cent, minted from 1839 to 1857, was the creation of Christian Gobrecht. Its obverse displays a braided-hair portrait of Liberty, while the reverse is adorned with a wreath. Succeeding the earlier "Classic Head" type, this coin is celebrated for its larger size and more elaborate, intricate details, marking a significant evolution in the artistry of American coinage.
