硬币介绍
In the final year of World War II, the mintage of quarter dollars in San Francisco actually rose almost 50% from 1944's total. Though gems are plentiful from the many BU rolls saved by collectors and speculators of the time, the quality of 1945-S quarters is highly variable. Many were incompletely struck from worn or severely overpolished dies. Collectors can afford to be picky in selecting a piece that has both a high grade and good technical qualities. 1945-S quarters may be found with either the Trumpet-Tail S, first seen in 1941, or the Knob-Tail S, which debuted in 1944. There is no premium attached to either of these varieties, though the Knob-Tail is less often seen. Several minor DDOs are known, along with a smaller number of minor DDRs. This issue does offer a few excellent repunched mintmarks (RPMs), and nearly all feature the Trumpet-Tail S.阅读更多
