The typical 1897 proof nickel is sharply struck and displays nicely reflective fields. Contrasting devices may be either satiny or frosty, with only the latter being sufficient to quality as Cameo. Gems are slightly scarce but not truly rare. The higher quality of late 1890s proofs compensates in part for the modest mintages for these years.阅读更多
