硬币介绍
The quarter dollar mintage of 1796-dated pieces seems to have been a token gesture to establish this denomination and to provide keepsakes for a curious public. In reality, there were enough two-reales coins circulating in America, mostly from the Spanish mints in Mexico and Peru, that USA quarter dollars were little needed. A total of just 6,738 1804 quarters was delivered by the coiner June 12. These were comprised of two die marriages, variety B-2 now being noticeably more scarce than B-1. Mint State 1804 are very rare, and most survivors are quite heavily worn. Despite being more rare than the 1796 issue, prices for 1804 quarters are much lower, as type collectors have the far more common pieces dated 1805-07 from which to choose, and there are few collectors of this series by date and variety.阅读更多
