Though Walter Breen reported two proof 1877 half dollars featuring the old reverse hub of 1866-76, these appear to be doubtful. The new reverse having a closed bud on the underside of the olive branch is the standard reverse for this issue. The figure of just 510 proofs seems rather low for the period, but there is no evidence to suggest that more were minted and sold. Gems are very scarce. Cameo pieces are available, but they, too, typically fall short of the PF-65 level.阅读更多
