Introduction of Coins
This first half dollar emission from the newly opened Denver Mint shares with its Philadelphia cousin a generous supply of Mint State coins. Most of these are well struck and have excellent luster, though gems exist in somewhat limited numbers. Circulated pieces are fairly available across all grades. A misplaced date variety quite similar to that of 1906(P) halves is known. The placement of the errant zero within the denticles below the date is nearly identical. Since both dies were made at the Philadelphia Mint it was mere chance that dictated the facilities at which they would be used. A few examples has been described as Specimen or Branch Mint Proof coins, but these have not been verified through professional certification.Read More
